WHY LABOUR IN THE UK AND THE DEMOCRATS IN THE USA ARE LOSING: NO VISION - REJECT REGULATION!

The wonderful Ann Pettifor gets Bolshie...the main debate at the moment that Labour has dismally failed to address is the appropriate balance of regulation over the economy. Instead we get from the odious Steve Reed (Minister for Housing and Planning) the absurd mantra (aping Trump) of 'Build, Baby, Build'....they simply lack strategic vision and that feeds into their erratic politics which react to rather than plan for: like an amateurish game of ping-pong.....

'De-regulation........ removes the democratic element and consigns society’s great power to ‘the invisible hand’ of markets.
This issue is fundamental to the failure of today’s US Democrats to mount a fight against the blatant authoritarianism, climate denial and looting of the current American president. Professor Trevor Jackson in a brilliant review of a recent book by Ezra Klein and Derek Thompson highlights Democrat impotence. He is scathing about the failure of Democrats to deal with the Trumpist threat - not once, but twice!
By losing to Donald Trump a second time - after the felony convictions, after the January 6 insurrection, after everything - and losing so comprehensively … (the Democrat party) stands revealed as one of the most incompetent, rudderless, and barren political forces in modern history.
Ditto British and European social democratic parties........................... The tragedy of Britain’s Labour government and of American Democrats is their lack of a vision of the future'.

CHINA....AND WESTERN 'LIBERAL ORIENTALISM'.

  Warwick Powell argues that when we in the west look at China we do so in a patronising way he calls 'Liberal Orientalism'. In doing so we dismiss the Cultural Revolution as an aberration rather than a crucial break with the past. He contrasts China with India - the so-called 'worlds largest democracy' where the form of Government was inherited from British Colonialism and is chaotic. This raises the whole idea of governance. If the aim is effective government, India simply doesn't compare to China.  And so is western democracy the ONLY way in which good governance can be achieved? It clearly is not - especially in the days of mass propaganda dominated by wealth and associated corruption.
